Removal of Species up to 1995.
In the last ten years, the IRBC has removed a considerable number of species and subspecies from the list of species requiring descriptions and the Committee is aware that observers are now frequently uncertain as to which records require substantiating material. To clarify matters, a list of all species and subspecies recently removed from the rarity list is given below, arranged in systematic order and with the dates from which records no longer require assessment by the IRBC :-

* Note that the Black Brant, B. b. nigricans, is still regarded as a rarity and records should be submitted to the IRBC.
** This applies to birds in breeding habitat only - birds on migration still need descriptions.
Observers are reminded that regional and national recorders may require substantiating evidence for records of species or subspecies removed from the list whenever they deem it necessary.
