It is with many regrets that the Irish Rare Birds Committee announce that Pat Lonergan is stepping down from the Committee after more than 10 years of service. In that time the assessment and recording of rare birds in Ireland has undergone profound change and Pat has contributed enormously to that change. He has done so with a combination of wit, wisdom and expertise which will be sadly missed on the Committee.

However with Pat's departure, the IRBC is delighted to announce the appointment of Dave Suddaby to the Committee as Voting Member. Dave will need no introduction to most birders in Ireland, many of whom will have made the long pilgrimage to the Mullet Peninsula in Co Mayo in search of one of the many great birds that Dave has found on this, his local patch. We look forward to Dave's contribution on the Committee and feel sure that the Irish birding community will wish him well in his new role.
