Dissemination of decisions in relation to select Appendix 1 and Appendix 2 records.
In order to speed up the dissemination of news regarding decisions relating to certain records, the committee has agreed that intermittent announcements will be made using the IRBC’s Twitter account (@TheIRBC) after voting members have concluded their assessments on records of note.
It is envisaged that such announcements will generally refer to records of Appendix 1 species that have been recorded less than 20 times. In addition, the decision on records of some Appendix 1 or Appendix 2 species where the provenance or identification of the subject was much discussed by the birding community at the time may also be announced using this system.
Announcements for select records such as these will be made ahead of the publication of the annual Irish Rare Bird Report. In this way we hope to communicate with the Irish birding community in a timely manner by providing information on decisions relating to records of note more promptly.
For all other records of Appendix 1 and Appendix 2 species, decisions will be published as normal in the annual Irish Rare Bird Report.
